چکیده
thermodynamic systems operating far from equilibrium. Such systems construct order by dissipating energy. Conditioned stimuli in reinforcement learning establish categories of patterns in cortical connectivity that create phase domains. Retrieval of a selected category of stored knowledge is by phase transition that is induced by a conditioned stimulus. The key property is cortical background noise, which is simulated Rayleigh noise by band pass filtering brown noise (1/ f2) in the beta (12–30 Hz) or gamma (30–80 Hz) frequency ranges. The noise displays aperiodic null spikes at which analytic amplitude approaches zero. These events resemble vortices. Phase transitions in recall occur at null spikes owing to high signal/noise ratio in the presence of even very weak activity evoked by conditioned stimuli.

Auditory verb perception recruits motor systems in the developing brain: an fMRI investigation.
This study investigated neural activation patterns during verb processing in children, using fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging). Preschool children (aged 4-6) passively listened to lists of verbs and adjectives while neural activation was measured. Findings indicated that verbs were processed differently than adjectives, as the verbs recruited motor systems in the frontal cortex durin...
متن کاملسایکوآکوستیک و درک گفتار در افراد مبتلا به نوروپاتی شنوایی و افراد طبیعی
Background: The main result of hearing impairment is reduction of speech perception. Patient with auditory neuropathy can hear but they can not understand. Their difficulties have been traced to timing related deficits, revealing the importance of the neural encoding of timing cues for understanding speech. Objective: In the present study psychoacoustic perception (minimal noticeable differen...
متن کاملThe roles of superficial amygdala and auditory cortex in music-evoked fear and joy
This study investigates neural correlates of music-evoked fear and joy with fMRI. Studies on neural correlates of music-evoked fear are scant, and there are only a few studies on neural correlates of joy in general. Eighteen individuals listened to excerpts of fear-evoking, joy-evoking, as well as neutral music and rated their own emotional state in terms of valence, arousal, fear, and joy. Res...
متن کاملVestibular Stimulation and Auditory Perception in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Objectives: Rehabilitation strategies play a pivotal role in reliving the inappropriate behaviors and improving children's performance during school. Concentration and visual and auditory comprehension in children are crucial to effective learning and have drawn interest from researchers and clinicians. Vestibular function deficits usually cause high level of alertness and vigilance, and proble...
متن کاملIt's Sad but I Like It: The Neural Dissociation Between Musical Emotions and Liking in Experts and Laypersons
Emotion-related areas of the brain, such as the medial frontal cortices, amygdala, and striatum, are activated during listening to sad or happy music as well as during listening to pleasurable music. Indeed, in music, like in other arts, sad and happy emotions might co-exist and be distinct from emotions of pleasure or enjoyment. Here we aimed at discerning the neural correlates of sadness or h...
